stress elimination
identify your stresses
Indeed true Joel. Knowing the origins of your stress puts you in the best position to cope, eliminate and reduce it.
If you can't determine your stresses you are unable to deal with them at all.
I can identify my stresses. I notice that sometimes the things that are really enjoyable, like hanging out with friends, can come across as stressful because of the time constraints. Instead of chilling out and enjoying the cup of coffee for an hour, I tend to stress inside about how I have to leave at such-and-such a time to make my next stress-related activity!!!
Yes, you must be able to identify your stresses in order to deal with them.
It's true. Our time is very limited each day Brenda. Reminding yourself of that is very important if you want to stay focused and motivated to keep up that balancing act.
Yes, I think balancing work and family responsibilities creates the most stress for me as well. I try to devote enough time to both, but it literally can feel like a juggling act. I constantly remind myself that there are only so many hours in a day and that I need to prioritize.
One of my biggest stresses when teaching is family obligations. I have a wife and three small children. I also work a full time job in addition to teaching. When I get home from my day job, my wife and kids expect to have me all to themselves. However, I also have to spend time teaching classes online and grading papers. This conflict produces a lot of stress at times. I find it helpful to discuss my teaching and grading schedule each semester in advance with my family. This way they have a clear picture of my teaching obligations.
The most stressful times for me are when my full time job gets hectic. I can never predict when those times will come, so it's important to get my teaching responsibilities taken care of any time I'm free.
If you have free time today, grade the assignment. Don't wait until tomorrow, because you might have something come up.
Yes, the balancing act is tough - especially with family. Setting expectations with family on your time limitations can sometimes help Darlene.
The biggest ones for me would be the commute, and the balancing act with my family and their activities
