Time!
I think my biggest stressor is the lack of time. Sometimes I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day. After leaving work at 5:30, and trying to go to bed by 11:30, I think the time constraints make me feel quite a bit of stress. I am often turning down social events just to get organized and settled.
I completely agree, before I made a to do list for all my work days, it was usually like that. Once I started to organize my tasks with my time it really started to help with this situation.
I like the concept of readjustment Marietta so I'm really glad you mentioned it. I think it's important to note that a one-size fits all approach doesn't always work best. Sometimes, we have to be flexible, customizing our approach to various situations.
I agree that lack of time can be quite stressful. I am an organize freak and sometimes it takes quite a bit of time to get organized. I sometimes have to readjust my priorities so that I can meet my deadlines. When I am on a time crunch, I readjust my priorities so that I acn meet my deadlines.
the list is the way to go, one thing at a time.
I agree with you, time is a factor in my school. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by time because I have four hours in twenty days to teach 6 chapters. I sure can use these stress management tips.
I always make sure I am early to work in order to always have the classroom set up properly before class starts. I always make any copies and handouts in advance.
Sounds like you have a great system in place Sue. It's nice when you can list just a few things out on paper and then knock them off the list. It certainly gives you a sense of accomplishment and that can be so motivating.
I make a list of the tasks that I need to accomplish. The list may only have two or three tasks listed. By not making the list too long, I find that I can accomplish those tasks and may have time to spare. And I feel satisfaction that I have accomplished what I needed to do, thus eliminating the stress.
Absolutely correct! We are set up in three week courses at my school. Depending on the student, this can be a real crunch to get all the information to them and test them. Couple this with all of the admin work I do and it can be real stressful. Then on top of that, there is a life outside of work. I stand back and count to ten, take a deep breath, and move on.
Sounds like a challenge Sarah. Yes, it can be very stressful when you are working so much that you don't have time for your friends and family. Ultimately they are the priority and work brings us the money to ideally enjoy them more. We must work hard to strike a healthy balance between earning an income to support our lifestyles and being able to enjoy those lifestyles.
I can relate to this stress factor. I do the bulk of my work in the evenings, and I frequently experience stress when I am unable to spend time with my friends or my husband due to the work I have to accomplish. I try to plan ahead throughout the week to do more mork on some days to enable me to have free time on other days, but this causes stress too. It does seem that I would be less stressed if I had a few more hours in the evenings...but I'd fill those hours up too!
So true Barbara. Sometimes we just have to set more reasonable expectations for ourselves each day so we don't feel bad about our progress or lack thereof.
Finding enough time in one day is very stressful. I feel like I have had a successful day by how many task I have accomplished,if time doesn't allow me to complete as many task as I want, it causes me to stress. I am still learning that somethings can wait until the next day. :)
This is true James. Really important to push ourselves sometimes and just see what we can make possible. Often times, we do not know how far we can take things until we just try.
I can see that. My is thinking there is not enough time to do something and not tring it. I just need to go for it and see if it can be done. It seems to be working for me.
