Too many things at once causes stress....
Stress is the great killer at work. Try to work responsibly.
i agree. i used to get sick at my job all the time due to the high demand of the administators. now my stress level is relatively low and i rarely get sick anymore because i switched jobs and got my stress level to a manageable point.
Yes, outlook and attitude can make a tremendous different Mark. To a certain extent, we can choose to interpret stress in a variety of ways. Having a positive and in-control outlook helps tremendously!
Being overwhelmed by different projects & pending deadlines can be stressful & unhealthy. Many cope by developing unhealthy habits like smoking, while others lose sleep or get sick. I have learned to reduce my stress by not procrastinating. Leaving project to pile up is never good for anybody.
I believe it is more your attitude about things. how you react to the outside forces is the key to stress. if you choose to do what you can and deal with things as they come instead of getting all worked up about things that are out of your control you experience much less stress. too many people look to medication to deal with their problems rather than looking at how they are reacting to things.
I find that just breathing for 5 minutes when stressed helps to get through the day.
Stress is huge in my life since I am teaching, going to school and juggling 3 teenagers. I often find that taking just 10 min of unwinding helps me transition from school, to work, to home.
At my previous place of employment I would actually get sick ALL THE TIME, because I was so stressed out about work. I had so many responsibilities because the office manager was never around to help, and I was the only person who could do the job. As soon as I would get over being sick the cycle started over again, stress went up and got sick again. I was allowed to work as many hours as needed, but I didn't want to never see my family! My new job now gives us "administrative" time to play catch up. I can't say I'm never stressed, but I haven't been as stressed out as before!
Try telling management that! They do not allow overtime yet we are given so many tasks there is no possible way to complete them within the time allotted.
