Leadership
When administration pretends to know the topic I teach but are glaringly clueless the choices they make can be thunderously ignorant. This is where I am required to do their job for them by teaching students content that was clearly designed to be taught after they were given basic concepts. Stress!
Ann, That sounds like a tough spot and you are absolutely right. Subject matter experts should be able to weigh in to decisions about teaching materials. You might reach out to your administration, just to share your perspective. Perhaps they will not let you be the final decision maker, but maybe you could become an important influencer.

It is VERY stressful when the input of those who are the experts and are the ones teaching a given subject are NOT allowed to participate in the curriculum planning. How can those who Never worked or taught in the specialty I have capable of making correct decisions. Very Very stressful!!! For example, Why don't I have say in which book would benefit my students best? Instead, it's just handed to us from corporate.
It's difficult when (as an instructor) you are hired to teach a subject that you are technically the "expert" in and those in Leadership positions make final decisions that will ultimately hurt the program in the end. How does one stay "positive" and "stress-free" in situations like that?
I understand what you are talking about. They set up the programs and then make changes all the time. It is hard for instructors and students when they do this.
