Stress is a good and bad thing in my book. Being in media we encounter stress everyday. I think my largest stress creator is myself and my strive for perfection. This at times can leak into my classes, but at times is good because the media world demands perfection.
Media and air traffic control can be considered two of the most stressful jobs. In my place of employment we start classes at 8 AM and don't end until 11PM. Although I delegate tasks and on site managers, ultimately if something goes wrong I must be available at all times.
Procrastination is a big one for me also. I know how things can pile up when you get even a tiny bit behind. I continually work on doing things immediately when I get home. I have a monthly meeting that I'm required to type the minutes for and distribute to everyone in a timely manner. I have put this off to the point of not remembering exactly what I meant by the notes I put down. So... if I do it right away, everything is fresh in my mind, it is much quicker to do when I remember everything the first time and it reduces my stress because I know it's done and it's done right.
Thankfully the work team (other instructors as well as our department head) that we have our very cooperative and we help each other out whenever somebody needs it. It's a great environment of co-workers.
im stresed everyday i come to work. I have students all calling me at one time, tasks i must complete by the end of the day and expectations that need to be met by the director. When i meet the needs of my students, complete some of my tasks and all other expectations, my stress level declines.
I have the same problem. I teach at least 2 classes at a time and if I miss one day of entering grades, it's triplicate in 2 days! I have to prioritize my list and make sure I provide myself the proper alloted time to do them. Not just the time I think I can do it.
My stress develops from procrastination..everytime. I have to learn how to prioritize my lists
