On the commute from my day job and instructing, I turn to music. It helps me unwind from one "hat" and phase into the other. Also, getting massage on a regular basis may help you with pain/ movement (as long as it's okay for your particular health issue).

I agree and have been pretty good at it for a long while. however as of late a severe health issue has made that very hard, I am in pain most all the time I'm teaching and have to limit my movement within the classroom. This has blurred the line between two. hopefully by reducing some of the stressors this lessen the overflow.

That is very true.

Running, for those able, is a wonderful way to release stress...walking as well.

Exercise and sleep are two ways to combat high levels of stress.

Harmony, Interesting approach. I think it's important to be open and honest about our stress levels with the people around us. At the same time, you are right in being selecting with who and how much you disclose. Sometimes, too much sharing can be perceived negatively by others.

I find that discussing, very selectively, your stress with students on an occasional basis makes them more receptive you as a human and remind you (well, me) that I am not the only one with stress as my openess often encourages my students to open up to me.

I agree. Physical activity can be helpful in reducing stress, and when I am very stressed, I rely on that strategy.

The circumstances of life are difficult to control, but allowing stress to reach inside of you is optional. People with relaxed mental attitudes do much better in stressful situations and they are also able to maintain the clarity of thought to make good decisions.

I enter my classroom with a smile no matter what is going on in my personal life!

it's easy to say hard to do, however I believe the less you take home or the less you carry to work can be helpful to manage stress.

sometimes when you talk about work stress at home may help and vice versa.

It is important to leave the business of work at work and conflicts at home, at home. I find a way to clear my head either of work or home conflict is running after work or a simple walk on a break at work seems to keep things uncomplicated.
