Stress

Elimination of stress will allow the instuctor to be more productive and responsive to the students.

I agree. Sometimes it may be difficult to control one's stress levels, no matter how much we try to. Sometimes we develop healthy coping strategies, yet we also develop some unhealthy ones as well. I think that creating a "stress list" can help an individual gain more control over his or her stress levels. It makes the stress more realistic. The person becomes more aware of the areas that he or she needs to cope with more effectively.

I agree with that but it is impossible for me to eliminate all stress. Often just eliminating a little helps

Sorting out which things can be reduced and which can be eliminated is the firts step.

Stress eliination will alway make one more productive however, it is difficult to eliminate all stress therefore we most manage it in order to be productive.

I agree. Although it is considerably easier to say that you are going to identify stressors in your life, it is extremely more difficult to take corrective action. As a teacher, I do not feel as though lecturing or administering tests cause me stress. I think acknowledging that stress will always be a part of your life is the first step in dealing with it in productive ways. Exercising can help but so does talking to people in your life about what is stressing you and asking for inventive ways to deal with it. I believe stress that festers cause more stress and then it starts to have a snowball effect. Making the effort to reduce stress before it becomes problematic is key.

I do not think that all stress can be eliminated. By knowing/understanding what causes stress for you, you can make changes for the better. Or sometimes exercising really does help.

Mark, This is indeed true. However, stress elimination is not always possible. Sometimes stressors can only be reduced. Other times, we must apply coping mechanisms to manage through them.
