DEALING WITH STRESS
ONE WAY TO DEAL WITH STRESS IS TO RECONIZE WHERE THE STRESS IS COMING FROM.THIS WILL HELP YOU TO COPEWITH IT.TRY TO TALK TO PEOPLE.
I find that most people including students have trouble recognizing the stressors in their lives. The first and most important thing to do is to recognize the stressors and then deal with them. Most people do not like to deal with what is stressing them and they think it will just eventually go away. Which is the worse thing to do. We know that the longer it is left no dealt with the worse the stress in our lives can become. We need to be honest with ourselves and learn how to deal with the issues in our lives that are causing the stress.
Jordan, I like your thinking. It's often easier to deal with stresses in the moment as compared to letting them linger. Planning some fun time, instead of just downtime, is another wonderful approach.

I try to address the stress when it happens so I do not dwell. Making plans for the days off that you have coming also helps me
We can't fix what we don't know. Where would we even begin until the problem area has been identified.
that is true, recognize the sourse of stress, then
break it down into its parts how to solve, and cope with it.
get a hobby,at home it is relaxing to tinker around the house, various repairs or yard work for example, anything that will interest you and will take your mind off of the stress.
This is very true, you must find the source!!!making time for yourself and pausing is great way to live a stress free life!
Alicia, That's an interesting approach and sounds productive too. Yes, it's important to treat people the way we'd like to be treated and often times, this approach does lead to the least stressful outcomes.

I agree some of the stress that we deal with can be eliminated. People will only do to you what you allow in personal or work life so I try to treat everyone like I would like to be treated with respect and appreciation and that takes care of a major portion of my stress.
I tend to deal with stress at work by not allowing things to build up so that one day I freak out or act unprofessionally to another co worker or student. So I address the stress when it happens so I do not dwell and the feelings that have me stressed out to begin with.
I agree. It is also difficult to know who the best person(s) to talk to about your stress is. Talking to some people about certain stresses can actually have a negative effect in certain situations. So a coping mechanism might be helpful in the situations as well.
I do agree with that in some circumstances but sometimes your stress can be out of your control.I tend to read to try and make myself focus on something else.
I absolutely agree with you. We sometimes are our own worst enemy, and when you actually look at the situation it is not that bad. You do have to do a little self inventory as well and realize what you are or are not capable of handling. There is something to be said about the ability to say NO and mean it.
I agree. It's also important to be completely honest with ourselves because I think we are responsible for a lot of the stress in our lives. Come out of denial.
