To avoid stress, don't take on roles you can't handle

Many people experience an abundance of stress because they take on too much. For instance, if you have a full-time stressful job and are stressed about finances, then maybe it's not the right time to have a baby, or get a dog, or accept a new job with a longer commute. There are certain things in our lives that are CHOICES. Before we do anything, we should stop and think about whether we can realistically handle it. Also, we much learn to say NO when people ask us to do things that we know we cannot handle. In summary, if we are able to control certain things that enter our lives, we should do so in order to avoid stress.

I agree and I am constantly working on saying No.

I love the 2 letter word "NO" I use it. Sometimes people put their workload on you to reduce their load.

Agreed. The term" my plate is too full" is often times self inflicting. In my personal life, I never load up too many task/issues on my plate. This helps me not to stress out!

My go to phrase to say "no" is: This is not working for me.... This phrase if difficult to argue with.
