Dealing with stress
Take time out to get some rest.
Yes, laughing is so great Lisa, especially with friends. But if you find you've got some time alone, a great comedy can work too.
Take time to rest, and to laugh. Laughing can help you breathe deeper and it just feels good. It's even better when you can laugh with others!
Wow, that sounds like a fantastic outlet Ian. Yes, finding a non job related activity is great because it really helps us change gears and refocus.
taking time out on the weekend with a completely non job related activety is my way of letting the week go. I ride a dirt bike with friends and during that ride all that I am thinking about is what I am doing right now not what happened this week or what I need to do next week. I am completely concentrating on the next 20 or 30 yards of trail and that is my complete focus. It also gives me something to look forward to during the week and look back on when things get hectic. I have also been known to go to a local arcade and spend a few dollars blowing things up, you would be surprised how stress relieving it is. It costs only a few dollars and takes very little time.
Yes, taking time out to rest and relax or soend time with a hobby helps with stress management
My own personal "fix" for stress is dedicating a certain part of my weekend for my own use. If I have a particularly stressful week, I can tell myself, "Well, all I have to do is keep going until Saturday", then I will relax and enjoy some things on my own personal list.
I will certainly try protecting my health. That is one area where I don't do as well.
Yes, and what's great about breathing is it's something you can do anywhere, anytime.
Taking a few minutes to do deep breathing exercises often reduces the physical stress that one might feel.
Yes, it is important to take time out to rest Barbara. Often times, instructors are hesitant to do so because they feel like they will lose time on task completion. The reality is that rest often helps instructors regain focus, allowing them to move through tasks more quickly once they get back to them again.
