stress
What are some tips to hide your stress from students.
Ah yes, the deep cleansing breath and everthing is okay again. Now time to dive in.
How long have you been teaching Don? In the first few semesters, most instructors feel just like you. I was just like that in my first year of teaching. After a little exposure though, it gets much easier.
Before I teach I get butterflies. I take a few deep breaths before my students arrive!
Yes, pass your knowledge of time and stress management on to your students. Breathing exercises work great in class or really anywhere. It's great to have access to a few coping mechanisms that we can use anytime and anywhere.
while in class i will pause for a couple of minutes and take some DEEP breaths to refocus my self. If i see a student getting fustrated I'll recomend that they take a few deep breaths and refocus it works for me and them
Hi Arthur,
What I do is take a break...in most cases a breather. I try to do what I enjoy most at that time which is just relax. If I'm at work, I'll go outside and just enjoy the breeze or if I'm at home I'll do something to take my mind off of things such as listen to soothing music or turn on the television...something that will change the channel in my brain.
Thanks!
Breathing, rest, and exercise are keys. Learning to make time for oneself is always important to feel less anxious.
This is a good question Arthur. Try taking a few deep breaths before each class to center yourself. Also try taking a few minutes to get organized before they arrive.
