Just another thing to organize

Stress should be dealt with just like any other task a teacher has in their busy day. You prepare lecture, demonstrations, grading, ect..
Why not throw stress management in the mix?!

i have the 6p's that my husband taught me when i met him many years ago-prior planning prevents p---- poor performance (old army thing, sorry about the language). this has guided me thru undergraduate, graduate, professional school, career, business owner stategies, etc. Evaluating stressors that are written down gives keen insite into not only potential solutions for elimination/reduction but also makes one question the value of that particular item in your life. we all just have to learn to say "no" at times esp to students who always have a reason why their life is more important than anyone else's. i use my syllabi as an organization map for the student and the requirements to "go down that educational road" with me. i have alot of student respect and very few students will try me more than once to see if i will bend the rules. My rationale for not doing it is simple-its not fair to the rest of the class who do the work.

The more organization you develop in your personal and work life, the less stressed you become. Being organized has a positive effect. If you are disorganized, and always looking for something because it is not in its place, then you stress level goes up.This type of stress can be avoided.Stay organized, stay on task, keep a positive attitude, these are techniques that can help those stressful situations that cannot be avoid, be less streesful and able to cope with.

Indeed true Gilbert. Our emotions often take over when we're stressed. This can lead to complications that make our situations even more stressful. Staying calm and having a clear plan for task management in various scenarios is a great approach.

That is good advice, making a plan to deal with potential senarios can reduce stress.People often approach situations on a emotional level instead of really looking at posible solutions in an organized way.

Indeed! Planning is the key Christopher. When we've got a plan, we can often go on 'autopilot' as we execute it. This can be a great feeling.

I find that many times stress originates from not having a proper plan. If you have completely thought about how to approach a situation and prepare for the potential senarios you are less likely to be stressed.

Sounds like an excellent plan Mary and of course I agree. A little up front analysis can go a long way in ensuring you're focused on reducing and eliminating the right stressors.

Taking time to analyze your stress should be the first step. I agreed with the instructor that you need to see what you can elimate or reduce. The things you can't have solutions

How true that is. Because just as our papers needing to be graded would pile up, so does stress.

Yes, It's great to plan to manage stress Mark. It' takes a little time and an energy investment but it's so beneficial in the end.
