Stress relief

I love running. It address proper breathing, gives me time alone to think and the endorphins help me relax.

After a heavy workout, there is nothing better than relaxing in a hot tub with a nice glass of wine.

I run also, I also bike. I try to do some sort of physical activity for at least a half an hour per day.

Hobbies and I try to leave work at work, and home at home. I have learned to not worry about the things I have no control over, and then try and change the things that I do have control over if it will help.

Rod, Sounds like you have many healthy outlets. That's great to hear! I should note that it's ok to sing to yourself, even if you are off key!

Michelle, Some people need to cut off all stimulation to be able to really relax. Sounds like you are one of those people. Music is not necessarily relaxing to everyone and sometimes we really do need to just completely unplug to get away.

I've recently added walking. I go by myself with no cell phone no music. Peace and quite from work and personal. It allows me to regroup.

I would never admit to singing to myself, hum along with the music yes, can't sing. I also have several types of music stations in my vehicles by changing the type of music it helps me relax, also I am a heavy reader, this allows me to basically lose myself in the story.

Christian, So true. It's great to be able to step away from our routines and do something we truly enjoy. Ideally, this works best when the activity is not work related.

Doing something that you truly enjoy that is not work related is a great way to help out with stress. This is good way to help you relax.

The long drive home from work is good. Excercise 3-4 times per week, fishing, reading, traveling work well for me.

Daniel, Sounds like a wonderful outlet. Many more instructors do this than you think, thought most are reluctant to admit it. It's great to be able to get away from it all.

I know a lot of people (myself included) that enjoy taking a late-night drive where this is little traffic, and singing along with the radio. Its somewhat soothing and relieves stress.

Michael, Yes, getting on the open road without traffic can make a huge difference. Sometimes, staggering the time we leave for work by even 15 minutes can significantly change the traffic we experience. This works well on the way home too. 4:45pm can be a lot different than 5:00pm!

Paul, Interesting approach. It sounds like your stress outlet for work is actually making you really productive at completing home life tasks. Nice!

James, Interesting approach. I like this a lot because you can do it almost anywhere. If you load pictures onto your mobile device or computer, you can have a nice, high quality selection to choose from too.
