stress

I've tried to reduce stress by getting enough sleep but, I find it hard to sleep the enitre night without waking up and forcussing on stressors. Any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

Christopher, I like your approach. Sometimes all it takes is just writing things down on paper and getting them out of our minds. This approach can make such a difference on our ability to rest.

I find if I can not sleep due to stress, I get up and write it down and then I try to go to sleep.

Paula, What a wonderful idea. Sometimes people use a fan for this same purpose. Having a dedicated machine sounds great though. Love the idea of having heartbeats and ocean waves settings to choose from!

I have recently purchased a "white noise" machine in order to be able to tune out the outside noises, allow me to get that much needed rest. It has a variety of settings from heartbeats to ocean waves, and I have found it be beneficial

i have found that sleeping with a radio on low helps out lot. The music serves as a constant distarction to the brain to not focus on other things.

Roy, That's a great question and I'm sure a lot of instructors are in the same position. I might recommend thinking about the kinds of foods that make you sleepy and eating them for dinner. Some people get tired after drinking warm milk. For others, it's turkey. I also recommend avoiding foods that keep you awake like soda with caffeine.
