Once the students know what is expected of them and have a good idea of how the course will play out, some will strive to acheive high standards and even deliver more than they are expected.

I have found that with each class I teach my syllabi have everything related to the course spelled out very clearly. I also have a sign sheet which the students sign after we go over the syllabus together. This way I have found keeps them from coming back later and saying"well I never knew about..." I just show them the sign sheet. We have a question and answer session during the syllabus review. Any and all questions are gone over quite thoroughly.

yes,iagree .

A syllabus at the begining of the course is the most important part of class organization. It give the class the out line of the course and the grading system. Most student expected to receive a syllabus.
