I agree. We however have a 2 day policy for making up exams. After that it is a use it or lose policy. If the epectations are clear and there is a "paper trail" of those expectations I feel you are doing the student a dis-service by adjusting the rules for them. Unless dynamic circumstances are the reason of course and then reasonable accommodations should be extended.

Hi David,
At some point we do have to treat our students like adults. They need to be held accountable for their actions! For every choice their is a consequence.

I agree for the most part, but often times people are sick and don't necessarily go to the doctor. I have been allowing late work, but for a 10% progressive reduction until the work is in.

I agree on this to a point but if a student notifies before hand of a day they will be missing and i had an assignment i give them a one day grace period.

I try to do the same with exams, you have 24 hours to make it up, then it's no longer an option. It keeps students from falling behind and keeps me from having multiple exams out there. A valid excuse can create exceptions, but for the most part it seems to work.

No excuse for late assignments is accepted. This makes the rules consistent for all students.

I agree they need to be taught personal responsibility for their actions too!

Hello Faith,
I feel as though you are right on point with your reasonsings. I do not differ with you at all.
