Get students involved with their learning process. Hands on gets them excited or team teaching. Let them teach to others what they learn this in turn helps them learn as well.
For the pharmacy technician course, I get them in the lab and have them to alot of hands on retail pharmacy like counting drugs and sometimes i get them in groups and time them and see who can count pills the fastest. and move on the capsules and time who can count capsules the fastest.
Hi Robert,
Some students are very competitive and will push hard as well as push others to give their very best so that they can win. It becomes a win-win situation for all because every student tries their best to come up with the correct answer.

At the start of the lab I put in the thought of competition between the groups. As they progress through the day and learn the procedures the fun of competition takes over as they master the process involved in the lab.
Hi Byron,
Each day of class the instructor should walk in with an abundance of energy! The enthusiasm will definitely rub off to the students.
Patricia Scales
Well for me its helps if i am excited also.I have taken classes I felt the instructor could of had a little more excitement.
Hi Ashlee,
If you talk things up, students will jump on the band wagon add share their stories, experiences, ideas, etc.

Hi Jose,
We have to give our students something to look forward to. Our students have to be motivated to keep their eyes on the prize.
Patricia Scales
Hey Patricia,
Thank you so much! Yes, they always ask for more stories, and then they start bringing in their personal experiences to see if they match up.
Ashlee
By presenting examples of success stories from "case reviews" as well as presenting or hinting content to be covered in future classes.
Hi Pamela,
Awesome! Students love visual, and you have a great game plan in place to generate excitment on Day 1. Try to generate excitement every day in your classroom.
Patricia Scales
Hi Susan,
This exercise serves as a great way to build a relationship with your students as well. Students like knowing that they have a bond with you.

Hi Ashlee,
Students really do enjoy hearing about our personal stories/experiences. I am sure you are an excellent teacher because you know exactly what it is like in the real world. Your students are so fortunate to have you. Experience really is the best teacher.
Patricia Scales
Hi Manuel,
Students really get excited when they hear and see how things are done in the real world. We want to generate as much as excitement from students as possible.

I am new to the academic arena so my mind is buzzing as I read all the information. I will be teaching polysomnography and plan to utilize several visual aids. First one will be a glass head with wire placements on the head. Next, a CPAP device and handouts with EEG activity. My hope is to peak the interest of the students on my first day.
I use some getting to know you activities and then try to relate the things I learn about the students to one another and to the content of my course.
Not only do I teach but I work as a certified athletic trainer, so I have a ton of personal experiences in the medical field that I like to share with my students. Once students realize what exactly an athletic trainer does, I always have students asking questions or staying after class for injury/treatment advice. They take my experiences and relate it to their own lives.
I get the students exited about the course content by giving them example for "REAL LIFE" experiences. This may help the student concentrate beter touards the course.
Hi Mark,
I love your perspective! You attitude should be emulated by all educators. I tell you have a passion for what you do! Continue to change lives!!

Most students I get already know me from coaching and working with other kids and athletes' I have been teaching for over 25 years I think the best way to get kids excited about your course is YOUR MOTIVATION. they feed off this. Everyone from staff to students ask how I can be so positive and motivated every day. Its because you have an opportunity to shape someones life or guide them by how you act, teach and motivate others
