using visual aids to get the students engaged
As a visual learner myself, I find it more affective to use visual aids that might help the student to understand what the expectations are.
It also gets the student excited about what they will be doing.
Examples of successful projects, especially when composing business plans allows students creativity to feed
I really enjoy using visual aids in most of the courses. It allows those learners to really "get it" and also provides those who might not be visual to explore a new option
Using visual aids does bring the assignment together such as reading text in a book then to be able to see it in a microscope. I feel the students feels that they fully understand.
Hi Keith,
It makes so much more sense to students whenever they can see it and have thorough supporting information. I've noticed students do much better on projects if they can see an example first.

Eva you're right on with this. I continually add content via pictures to help illustrate key points or areas the students need to be aware of. Power points are a great medium and I find that adding more to the presentation brings the information alive. The students can grasp the concept better with pictures and detail.
Hi Eva,
I love using visuals. Visuals seem to make a class a lot more lively.

Powerpoints are great, especially if they have many pictures to which the class can relate to. They give a visual of the material, equipment, product , tools and other aspects to be utelized throughout the class & possibly their careers. This helps the students to retain the information being given during the PowerPoint presentation.
Hi Ana,
I don't feel tht too many PowerPoint presentations can be too much. PowerPoint presentations are a great tool, especially for your visual and auditory learners. You should put in as much class time with PowerPoint presentations as you need to. I think PowerPoint presentations are better than just plain lecture.

I love using visual aids, specially when you have a 4 hour long class and only a few students. In my language classes I like showing short cultural videos and also Power Point presentations. My question is, can too many Power Point presentations be too much? How much class time should be put into them?
Hi Gena,
I agree 100% on how effective it is to use visual aids. Every student learns in different ways, and using a variety helps the students learn and succeed. I think it does get the students encouraged in learning, and that is what is most important.
Hi Gena,
Seeing is believing! I am a visual as well as kinestheic learner. I love seeing what it is that I need to do. Students really do get excited when they can see it.
