Sitting in back of Room During Tests

Not sure I agree with sitting in the back of room during tests. If you do it makes it hard to see students who could be cheating by looking at other resources.

Whoops, meant to put this in Forum 4 instead of one, my mistake.

Moving around the room during exams is something I've just recently started practicing. Unfortunately, cheating is sometimes an issue. I'd like to think that with my students are adults, and cheating was left in highschool, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I agree with you, Bernie. In my classroom there is a big center aisle so I will occasionally stroll down and back. I don't do it so often as to distract students from their test, but often enough that it deters the opportunistic cheaters.

I have found that students who suffer ADD or have any sort of issues with people standing behind them have difficulty focusing on the test when you are behind them, even if it is two or three rows behind them.

Hi Wanda,
I am all over the room during test time. Students know I really roam. Students need to know that they are being watched.

Thanks for the tips. I usually circulate around the room. The standard location is a good suggestion. Wanda Bailey

I think it's good to move around, not so much that it is distracting though. In addition to the cheating factor, you also make yourself available to allow for students to quietly ask questions if needed without disturbing the rest of the class.

I still think it's a good idea since students can't tell if you are watching them or not so many will not risk trying to cheat.

Hi Bernie,
I understand! I feel as though I have better control/management when I stand up front.
