class room managment
I really agree with the idea of going over the syllabus with the students. Students offten ask when the home work is due and never turn it in on time. When we have told them time and time again. We do take a acction when they do not turn it in on time. Students need to understand who is boss and there will be a "cut off point".
I understand that. However, we should go over the syllabus with the students, primarily because some have not understood what a syllabus is.
And yet sometimes you can go over items, and when called on it, there is the "you never said that" response.
OPK.
I also agree with the idea of going over the syllibus with the students. I think it is not only benificial to the students, but to the instructor as well. Too many times the students will say that they "didn't know" something that is cleearly stated in the syllabus.
I have a student contract sheet on the last page stating, "I have been given a copy of the course syllabus. It is my responsibility to read and understand it's contents. I will follow all guidelines contained in the syllabus."
