Psychomotor Learning Activity
Hi Folks, my name is Qadar and I teach computers to MA (Medical Assistance) and MBC (Medical Billers and Coders) in one class. I teach both groups how to use both EHR (Electronic Health Record software) and PMP (Practice Management Program software). To create a team work between the MA and MBC students is very difficult. To break the ice between the groups I give them a research paper named "COMPUTERS then and now". I break them up into groups (mix of both parties) and research through the internet: History of computers, advantages and disadvantages of computers. This idea is working out really well. If you have different ideas that I could implement please let me know. Thanks.
I think the psycho motor aspect of teaching and learning can be the most challenging, because in the field of ultrasound that I am in, some students have the hand eye coordination and aptitude to see 3-dimensionally, and some do not. The ones that do not or are slower to learn, can be intimidated or threatened quite quickly.
A method that works well is having the students switch partners often, so that they feel included and can begin to learn from the ones a bit more adaptable.
This has worked well, I am open to any other suggestions as well.
