Class preparation
I think that class preparation begins with reading in detail to your students the course syllabus. That way students will have a clear explantion as to what will be expected from them. In this case is it better to be hands on (demonstrate) or simply reading the material would be suffice?

Students love learning through doing hands-on activities. They also love doing computer-related activities.

I think it is important to identify your audience. For example; Are you preparing these students for a career that requires a lot of hands on skills?
If so they might better connect to an explanation of the course that allows them this opportunity.

Great use of technology. My students are also exposed to various coding websites as well so that they understand how accessible resources are.

I bring in actual op notes for students to code they were thrilled with this as opposed to coding from the book examples also demonstrated all the on line insurance web sites for them to get a feel for what they will have available at their fingertips once they are on on site
Make sure all class members participate. You will have those that sit back and never offer an ideal or suggestion. Be aware of those students and encourage their participation.
I am very glad if the students will try me.

Students will try you; you have to let them know that you are serious, and you expect them to be prepared, otherwise their grade will suffer.

In my class situation I need to read as in cooking classes we demonstrate the products after we talk about what we are going to prepare
As long as you make it clear for the students that class preparation is very important and show them on examples what could happen if they do not prepare so then it will be the different story!
