I do not accept late assignments under any circumstances, anymore. I used to until I found that students were presenting falsified doctor and appointment notices theyd retrieved from the internet. Now I allow student to turn in one "make up assignment" the last week of the module to regain their points.

Even after I have set the rules for submitting late assignments there are still students who submit their assignments late. Some of them I have granted extension due to extenuating circumstances, but those students still earned a zero because they exceeded the extension. After they received the zero then those students want another opportunity to make up the work. What do you do?

We too, set the rules for late assignments, but unfortunately they are broken. This is a difficult situation when we try our best to be there to promote success for the student, yet adherence to rules must be taught as well. In addition to assessments being a tool to test the students comprehension and achievements, the rules established for being late are a lesson in life skills that will transfer over into the real world. The suggestion in the lesson, to be tough about make-up will benefit the student as they go on to their future career. This one lesson will hopefully give me the push I need to
'stick to the rules.'
