Students Interest
I agree that by giving the student as much information about the class via a syllabus and providing them your clear and manageable expectations certainly voids any notion of ambiguous goals and objectives. So far I am enjoying this module :)
True it is boring. However, the problems is the students listen to me talk but then they mentally check out after 15 min unless they are taking notes. Sometimes I have students that say I did not know that even if you gave them a syllabus. Have them take turns was my way of engaging them. I will try your method.

Having students read most things in class is boring. I explain the syllabus thoroughly in my own words, and I am very up beat when doing so.

I am a new teacher. So in the past, I have just had the students to take turns reading the syllabus aloud which is boring. After reading this CEE information, I don't think my previous method is an effective way to disseminate the course objective while peaking their interest about the class. Starting now I will include examples of some course topic to get them excited about the class.
