Movating students in math

Any ideas on the best way to motive students in math?

Hi, I teach mostly science classes and I too have trouble motivating students to learn the math behind it.

I always try to find a way to use math to explain something interesting to the students that isn't necessarily related to class. I take a concept that they already clearly understand and show them some simple math behind it. This helps them to see that they are already using math everyday. Math then seems like less of a "subject" and more of a tool that is necessary for them to understand

Hi,
My advise to motive students in math is to convince them why they need to learn math and how math is a tool they use in every day life, ex: in cooking you use fractions, in shopping you use division to know the uinit price and which item is cheaper, when you put gas, you need to know if you have enough cash to fill, etc...
