Being Clear on the course expectations
If an instructor is not clear about the course expectations, we can not expect a student to have a clear understanding and be successful.
Hi Steven,
When things are clear to students they are a lot less confused. Let's give our students our expectations/requirements on Day 1 so that they know exactly what to expect.

It is helpful to explain your requirements and expectations up front since that is what happens in a real work environment. I believe if you set clear course requirements you can plan your content, discussions, demonstrations, and lectures from that perspective.
Hi Scott,
Expectations should be made known to students on Day 1 and strictly enforced, otherwise students will take you for a joke.

Hi Billie,
I do agree! Making sure students understand the syllabus and are clear on what is expected of them and what they can expect from us is imperative.
Scott
Hi Diana,
Absolutely! Students must know what their limits are to stay within them. Boundaries certainly brings about structure!

I agree that we have to be clear about the course expectations. I go over my syllabus with them in class, I discuss my expectations of them and I ask them their expectations of the class and we discuss. They have to know the boundaries, in order to perform within them.
As instructors if we do not give our students direction, and guidance we are not being a productive part of their success.
Hi Billie,
I concur! It is our job to provide clarity to our students in all areas.
