New Instructor
As a new instructor I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to teach an seemingly out-dated approach and still set my students up for success in the "real world"?
Agreed. This is what I do too. It helps me to be able to teach about current nursing practice.

It is great when you can share applicable stories that you have experienced with you students. Students love hearing our stories as they apply to the course content.

This is one area where being a part-time instructor and working full-time in my field benefits the students in that I am able to teach them the fundamentals but also bring in new technologies and keep up with the ever changing professional world.
I try and teach with an updated approach, it seems to go much better with the classroom

Teach the out-dated approach, but add the updated approach as well.
