Relate the course
I ahve more success in classes where I can better relate the topic to real life work scenerios the students may face.
Hi John,
You make it realistic to students by giving them both the good and bad! Students appreciate it when we are honest with them.
Patricia Scales
I use work scenarios about successes on the job as well as failures and what was learned by both.
Hi Cammie,
I love your enthusiasm! Energy starts with the instructor! I am sure your students feed off of your high-energy level.
Patricia Scales
I also feel you should bring in real life situations. I have done so many different jobs. Just because I feel it is fun to do different things. I even worked in an ice cream parlor over the summer when we were out for school just because it would be fun. It is so easy to incorporate all the experiences into the class. They also enjoy hearing all of the things I do. I am very hyperactive! They enjoy the energy of that also.
Hi Jaquana,
Continue to keep learning real. Students love hearing students as they apply to their career and the real world.

I am a new instructor, but I have been working in my career for over 10 years. I try to find new ways to keep the students engaged in class/lab while learning new skills. When I tell stories of real life situations, they seem to be more interested. They seem to appreciate the extra input and are able to perform the skills a lot better when they can relate that skill to a real life experience.
Hi Tanya,
Field trips really bring book theory to life. Students love going on field trips.
Patricia Scales
Some field trips to the real studios usually help to motivate students.
Hi Shannon,
Yes, students love it when we can apply the topic to the real world. They better understand the benefit of the class when it is applicable to their career.
