syllabus
Well planned syllabus is very important, is useful for the teacher as a guide. Engaging the students with different type of activities is helpful, but it requires more time for the teacher.
Hi Denise,
Well, they can't blame you, you have done your job thoroughly so far as course requirements and deadlines are concerned.

I'm new to teaching (been doing it for six months now), but it really does help to walk your students through the syllabus.
I project the syllabus on the screen and we all go through each section together. I also make calendars for the class so there are no surprises (or excuses) as to what is due when. That's also projected on the screen.
Yes, it does take extra work, but those calendars and syllabi help me keep things on track as well. So no one in my classes should be confused...for the most part :-)
Hi Verna,
You ensure your students get what they need in order to fully understand what is expected of them. You go the extra mile by providing an assessment date sheet for your students; your students should really appreciate you going above and beyond for them.

I always go over the syllabus for all my classes, this way they are aware of what the class is about, the different chapters that are covered, the grades and how they are graded from their quizzez, tests, homework, and final exam, then along with the syllabus I also include an assessment date sheet, when all the work is due, the day the quizzes, tests, and their final exam will also be taken.
Hi Vijaya,
We have to do what is best for our students even when it may be very time consuming for us as instructors. I tell my instuctors we do not do what is easiest for us, we do what is best for the students.
