Assignments
Majority of my students have a life outside of school-kids, work and in one case; a caregiver. I usually stress the importance of students being able to meet deadlines regarding assignments to better prepare them for the real world. However, I fully understand that situations may occur that may prevent a student from being able to turn in their assignments on time. I am flexible and will deal with every student on a case by case basis.
Hi Joshua,
Fair enough! Students should not receive full credit for assignments turned in late. Students have to learn how to be held accountable.

I find that I tend to offer the students a very liberal timeline for turning in their assignments, but on the flip side, I do not give much credit for assignments turned in after the deadline.
Hi Arif,
You are right! Our students certainly come with different abilities/paces. Some students will surprise you with their level of intelligence.

In every class the student population is diverse. It is diverse with respect to culture, origin, ability, background and cognitive ability.
I have been teaching for many years and I have seen that some students can do the work quickly while others take much more time to finish the same task. Some students are quick starters and some are slow starters. However, some of those slow starters if given a chance prove to be the best students at the end of the class. What really matters is what the student has learned at the end of the course.
Hi Eirzaad,
I understand your perspective, however in the workplace deadlines are strictly enforced. We need to prepare our students for the real world.
