Motivational Learning
I think the best thing we offer here at Concorde is hands on learning. Which I call motivational learning. The students tend to be more excited about these classes. Especially when they are giving injections or doing phlebotomy.
I agree that students have increased motivation when performing hands-on skills versus sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture.
Hi Latissha,
Students also feel that you genuinely care about them when you try to keep them motivated.
Patricia Scales
It gives them a feeling of belonging.
Hi Todd,
It is great anytime you can share a visual with students. Students have a better understanding if they can see it.

It is also very helpful to have pass-a-rounds like parts and or working models before actual hands on labs.
Hi Benjamin,
I concur! Students tend to get it if they can do it to learn it!

Ms. Scales,
Thank you for the feedback. I do like the idea of having a lot of hands on activities. Most people, I think, learn by doing and in my field (Personal Trainer Instructor) there should be a lot of doing. :)
Thank You,
Benjamin
Hi Benjamin,
No, the amount of hands-on activities is left up to the instructor. Students really do love hands-on activities. I try to utilize hands-on activities every opportunity I can.

Hands on learning is definitely one of the best ways to encourage effective learning to take place. I believe that a combination of teaching methods can be used to set the table for a good hands on activity.
Question: When going through material that is, shall we say, a little more dry, is it beneficial or recommended to do more hands-on type activities than normal?
Hi Mary,
Yes, students are excited when they are able to learn by doing. Students love hands-on learning.
