Encouraging students to motivate each other

I believe its important to have students that are higher in the program of study to mentor students that are just getting started. In my workplace, we set partner up students with more experience to those with less experience and they help each other through the program. It helps keep students involved and encourages team work.

Students expect to be motivated by me as their instructor, but I like to take it to the next level and reward students who supportively speak to their peers in class. I use key terms like "we are in this together" and "I love the support you are giving to each other let's keep this up!" I enjoy keeping the climate and tone of the classroom setting warm and supportive while maintaining the informational elements.
