SHOUTING
Some instructors think if they raise and lower their voice that they can keep everyones attention. This only scares me while I am trying to concentrate.
Hi Darci,
Singing works! I have an instructor that will sing Rudolp the Red Nose Reindeer when she teaches plural nouns. She uses this to show one deer or a million deer, by using the part of the song, "and all of the other reindeer use to call him names," not reindeerS. The students remember this!

I've been known to sing especially if a sentence reminds me of a song it makes the discussion a little light hearted and usually grabs the attention of those who might be sleeping.
Oh My! When an instructor speaks in a monotone voice I lose interest very quickly. I focus hard on not speaking in that tone. As a matter of fact I try to use the appropriate tone for the material. If I incorporate a real-life story and it was exciting, I speak with excitement.
Hi Linn,
The change in voice grabbed my attention as a student. Monotone is certainly frowned upon.
