Unprepared students
Many students do and will continue to come to class unprepared, not having so much as a pen to sign the attendance sheet. I would like to know what are some more strategies an instructor can give to better help prepare these type of students?
I have the problem that when I have a review session there are always a few that come unprepared. They use the review session to shortcut their own preparation.
When it comes to pencils or pens, I have in my class rules that if they need to borrow one from me, they have to leave a shoe as collaterol. I have not had one student take that offer.

You may need to put some type of system in place to reprimand the student. Students need to understand that preparation is the key to success.
