Attention of inattentive students
To bring all students into the lesson, you first need to get the attention of the slackers from the rear of the class. Explain that we are now going to use the tools of the trade, and give a short explaination of the proper way to use the tools.
Now get all student using the tools and continue showing them some of the neat tricks and fance work that these special tools will do. Assign special projects for all students and have them each pick out what they will present to the rest of the class. Remind the inattentive ones that this is a large part of they grade and since they missed some of lecture you will be available after class to help clear up any missed parts.
