The Challenging Student

We all have had them.. The 1st and most important thing an instructor should not do, is give up on that student..The instructor needs to try to get to the bottom of the issue.. Generally if a student thinks that just one person cares, the issues that are so big, usually subside. 9 times out of 10, a challenging student needs just a little bit of positive attention and reenforcment, and they thrive from there on forward

Hi Kristen,
Listening is key! Some times a student simply wants to be heard.

Patricia Scales

I agree with this because time and time again over the years I have noticed that when you show even a small amount of time to listen and show that someone cares enough to listen even if for a moment, the issue or challenge seems to fade.
