Late Homeworks
I set a specific time and date for homework submission and that it teaches them how to be responsible in everything they do.
Hi Angie,
I have been teaching for 23 years. The due dates came with time. As you teach, you will become a lot smarter as to how to do things that will be beneficial both to you and the students.

How long have you been teaching? I am curious to know if you started this habit (having due dates all set up) when you first started teaching or did this come with time?
All of my students are given the assignments with the due dates so there is no question as to when it is due. When the student misses the due date, I will take points off because this does help the student to turn in their work on time. We need to have them learn this important skill while they are in school, so whent hey are working they will pay close attention to due dates and not miss them.
All of my assignments are handed out in start of first class, complete with due dates in their course outline. My students know the expectation of turning them in on time unless there is a valid, documented reason. I do not accept late work otherwise, and I have not had a problem of late assignments. I have a schedule to keep as well and late assignments does not fit into that.
It may help to give a brief lecture/discussion on success strategies for completing homework on time.
