center stage students

I thinks center stage students they don't only talk during the lecture but some time they basically disturb the class lectures.

I like the idea of letting them get it out of their system. It is hard in small classes and I think they believe they need to "fill the space."

In any class discussion you might have one row asking questions each day. On the days the students in that row are doing that, you can ask for comments from other students, but no one is allowed to interrupt that process. if done even handedly, it may reduce the attention grabbing

Center stage students seem to crave the attention rather than the knowledge. It can be difficult to get a person like this to turn but making that person an observer, and following through on those boundaries can help to mitigate some of the acting out. I think we have a greater challenge sometime within classes because we have such a range of ages/abilities and motivation.

I agree I just had one of these students in my class and it was a challange. I only had 3 students and 1 was center stage. Every morning for the first 15 min. of class I let her get it out of her system of talking......most days it worked.....sometimes I just had to say ok were moving on now with the lesson plan....
