Management of the difficult student
This section was a very good guideline to help me set expectations for my students.
I do have a student that never remembers what was the homework assignment. How can I help her?
This is what I do when I have a challenging student. First I try to get then more engaged. Secondly I send them little emails as reminders of what is due and when or that the class missed them in class today when they are absent, not just the instructor. I try my best to show that I care about the student’s success. I have to say that every case is completely different, each student responds in their own way.
I feel that you can do all these ideas, but if the student doesn't care it won't matter. So how can you help them make it matter besides taking them to the side and talking with them.
I have a student go to administration everytime she does not get her way. It gets very frustrating as they want the student to get through the class
Thanks, I love this idea. I have a student who is having difficulty with the computer. Our school offers computer tutoring. She states tutoring means , "your stupid". Yet, I have a difficult time convincing her that she will need certain skills in the workforce. Any suggestions?
Hi Joseph,
Tell the student to get a calendar and write her assignments on the calendar. She can print a free calendar from the internet or Microsoft Word.
