LEVELS
ANY TIPS FOR STUDENTS ON DIFFRENT LEARNING LEVELS?
Hi Jana,
I understand the difficulty. I generally have my strong students help the weak students depending on the assignment.

Hi Jana,
If by levels you mean skill levels, then, yes, this is something I struggle with.
I teach composition (a required class) and will have a large class of students with a range of skills. Some need basic skills training on grammar and writing. At the other end of the scale are the students who already are solid writers. It is a challenge engaging all of them in the classroom. If I address the information to the lowest common denominator, some of the more skilled students will be bored and may complain that the class is a waste of time.
What I try to do is teach in the middle. In the classroom I present the information. We often work in groups which helps students see that not everyone has the same skills. If some students need more training in basic skills, I will offer to stay later to review the material again or I will work with them on extra exercises to practice the skills. Sometimes I work with them one on one. My goal is to have everyone finish the class feeling like they are better writers. But it is difficult.
Hi Jana,
I try to include all four learning styles whenever I introduce a new concept to the class, thus trying to reach all type of learners. Whenever I am teaching one-on-one, I always know the best way that particular student learns, and I use that learning style with that student.
