My most successful method to reduce cheating has been to write questions in terms of the students perspective. For example, I might ask about a particular concept and how a student can apply that concept within his or her life. I find that since each student is relating to their own experience it is extremely difficult to cheat.
Provide students with ample instruction/review time prior to exams and stay on top of all grading and assignments given so as to ensure students are completing the work load and are retaining the material
Hi Deborah,
Having different versions of a test is very smart. Each student seated by each other will have a different test.

Using different versions of the same test works the best for me and my classes.
I have two versions of the test. Review with the class the day before the test. Use scantrons for taking the test. Ask the students to totally but all books off of the test away in the back packet.
Hi Maria Estela,
True! I generally leave an empty seat between each student, if space allows, and I also use different versions of the test to curtail cheating.

To avoid cheating in class, we have to lay the rules and the corresponding sanction for the particular behavior.
You can always create different versions to tests. Walking the room during a test is great. Making sure there is space between students helps also. Using a proctor to help you helps also
I reduce cheating by spreading my students apart during testing. I also walk around checking each of there papers. I also have them clear off the desk. Nothing but the test and writing instrument allowed.
Hi Judy,
Awesome practices to use to deter cheating. I really like how you even try to get a larger room to prevent cheating.

I have also made different versions of test and i have also had the students sit at every other chair and staggered to prevent cheating especially for midterm and final days. If i can reserve an orientation room then thats what i do.
One of the things that I do is spread the students out. I also walk the room and make myself available.
One easy way to reduce or rather, terminate cheating is spread the class out !!
Walking around the class during test taking time can also be successful. Test that require fill in or paragraphs can also reduce cheating students.
I think separating the students and having A and B version of the test and alternate them with the students at are close together.
I spread the students out in the classroom in a random fashion. All computers, notebooks, and bags must be placed in the back of the room.
Hi Kay,
It is more challenging for students to cheat on a short answer and dicussion type of test, however cheating has occurred on this type of test as well. A cheater will aim to beat any system that is put in place.

Hi Christopher,
Less cheating occurs with hands-on activties, however I have found that cheating does occur with this type of assignment as well.

The most common methods that I utilize is to have several versions of the exams along with short answer questions and discussion questions.
I like making different versions of the same test since they sit so close together. Students tend to look at each others tests. This way there is absolutely no cheating.
I use the Engrade resource tool with the time restraints as well as the randomization tool.
