Introvert and extrovert students
Besides strategies for increasing silent/introverted students involvement in the class, I think it is important to manage the extroverted students from dominating the class interaction as well. I acknowledge the differences in communication styles pointing out the differences without a value attached.
Hi Linda and Patricia:
I will call on specific students and remind the "center of attention" student that I appreciate their willingness to contribute when called upon, or when nobody else answers, but I am including others in the class discussion. I will solicit other opinions and answers after the person I specifically called on has answered. This seems to work well when reviewing homeork and group assignments.

Hi Linda,
Some extroverted students will take the class over if they are allowed to do so. Some extroverted students have to be told when enough is enough. These are very dominating students.
