Cheating Student
There are several things that you can do to reduce the desire for students to cheat. Give the students the opportunity to test more frequently with a series of exams throughout the course. This allows the the opportunity to increase their grade and the overall final exam grade.
Making realistic demands when developing your exams is another way of reducing the pressure to cheat. It is important that you develop a good rapport with your students and by doing this, you will develop a sense of the student's abilities and whether or not they are disciplined.
Hi Elham,
I am glad that the suggestions were helpful. I like your idea also.
Sharon
Hi Elham,
I am assuming that the numbered tests are the same, but the seating arrangements will change based on the drawn number. Is my thinking right?
Patricia
I love all of your suggestions. I also number the test and have them randomly pick numbers and sit where the tests are placed!
I think that's a great idea, for giving them such tips and advices on the upcoming tests may make test taking easier on them.
Patricia,
Thanks for the comments and support.

Hi Sharon,
Great points made. We must do what we can to deter cheating.
Patricia
Hi Patricia,
I think that you need to seat them every other seat or far enough apart from each other when you can; initially, let them know the consequences if they are found to be cheating; and create two versions of the test, but let them know in the beginning that this is done.

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your response to my thread about cheating students. I think that we need to give them tools also, such as tips to taking tests and tips for student success.
Sharon
Hi Andrea,
What do you do to minimize cheating?
Patricia
These are great ideas Sharon. I also lik the idea of making a final about 1O - 2O % so they wont be stressed and about the test being a big part of their grade. This usually forces them to cheat.
