Cheating Students!!

My solution to avoid cheating in class is to make four test versions and every fourth person gets the cycle of test all over again!!

The first time I had a student cheat on a test shocked me. I did not know what to do. She sat at the back with a paper on her lap (I assume) because she kept looking down and writing. Every time I walked over to her, she closed her legs. Talk about a tough situation. I couldn't accuse her of cheating because I had no proof. So the next time I met with the class, I gave a long lecture about the consequences of cheating. Then I changed seating arrangements. The students at the back had to sit in the front. The students in the front row had to move one row behind and so on. This put an end to the cheating.

This is a good solution, another solution I use when testing out students in my medical assisting class is to ask the students if they sure this is their final answer when performing their competencies. This way the student will re-evaluate what they are about to do.

Hi Jeff,
I am sure the speil before the test can deter cheating as well. It really gives the students something to think about.

Having multiple test helps with cheating issues.I also try to spread students out in the class room. Before handing out the tests I speak to the students about the test not only gives them a class room grade but shows them where the need to improve. If they cheat on the test now it will not help them when they secure a job and do not know the information they were suposed to learn in class.

Hi John,
This is a cleaver way to kill two birds with one stone...an answer key/study guide.

I like this idea. Having different versions of an assessment allows for reduced cheating, and a teacher can always distribute one of the versions with an answer key as a practice test - excellent study material.
