Wide array of student achievements
One of the most difficult things I find, is working with students of differing abilities. There are some students who are 'smart as a whip' and then there are others who need a lot of extra attention. Then there's the different learning styles, hands-on versus lecturing, etc. What are some ways that you deal with the different learning styles and abilities?
When dealing with students who are not as naturally smart as others, I obviously try to get them the additional assistance they need. However, I have also found it is important to recognize their successes, which may seem small compared to the naturally smart students, but it is big for them. Often, this will keep them exerting the additional effort it takes for them to learn.
Hi Detria,
This is just a natural part of teaching. Students who are not very bright, may need some tutoring. Get this student some additional help either you can come in early or stay late to assist the student or get someone else to help. Whenever you teach a concept, if possible make it where you include teaching methods for the visual, auditorial, and kinesthetic learner.
