In response to the comments about having students lecture, I agree with the Harvard presentation that the "Know It All" or expert should be given an opportunity to attempt to articulate their expertise. In this event, students do often realize they still have much to learn and to gain from listening to their instructor and participating in class.

Additionally, class forums provide opportunities for students to gain validation and to build community, soliciting buy-in. Listening benefits not only them, but also their instructors, who may then tweak the class to better serve their individual needs.
