I have made good use of learning groups in the past. I assign student in groups of 4-5 and the membership changes throughout the course / curriculum. Everybody get to work with everybody. One of the most important features is to have students evaluate each other's performance (similar to teacher evaluations) at the end of each group session. I had students rate each other on professional behaviors. Having your peers repeatedly comment on your strengths / weaknesses has an impact.

You want to channel them just like the student who wants to be the center of attention. The observer role from the last module is especially useful, as it provides them with a 'special' responsibility.
