The Frustration of a cheating student

I really believe that a students cheat because of the lack of preparation.
And I find is frustrating and so do the students who is working hard, they put in the effort to be prepared and they are taking their education seriously. Especially if the cheating student recieves a higher grade then the one who studied hard. It can cause a lot of hard feelings between students and each other but also students and instructor.

Hi John,
As instructors we do not have a leg to stand on if there is no proof/evidence of a student cheating. You can watch this student closely and try your best to catch the student cheating, otherwise we are out of luck.

Agree. Students now have so many more methods at their disposal than ever before. I have had at least a few instances where I couldn't prove a student was cheating but knew he was.

It is frustrating for me when I am sure a student is cheating but I have not been able to prove it. The other students in the class know and I know but there is no definitive proof even after interventions have been taken, like assigned seating for tests, space between students, alternating test editions. The methods of cheating are changing and becoming much more sophisticated with todays electronics. It is very difficult to stay ahead of the cheaters.
