In order to discourage cheating I have different versions of the test in the same class.

I have heard of the hand signals as well. This is the reason instructors must fully monitor the room during a test.

I try to make sure students can't see each other during the test. Previous students told me that others have used hand signals to share test answers.

Our school started to use different versions two
years ago and you could really see the look on the cheaters.
Now they know they have to study.
I will often do a number of techniques to avoid cheating. I will create several versions of any test. I will often separate students to keep wandering eyes from happening. I will always walk around the room during the test to make sure that students are not hiding any materials or using tools like cell phones. Finally, I will remind students about the cheating policies on the campus during any major exam.
