Another way to prevent cheating
I know this is fundemental, but another way to prevent cheating is to ensure that the desk is cleared of all outside objects except for the nessecary implments for testing.
I agree. I instruct my students to put all belongings except a pen to the front of the class by the white board. I have also realized the making two seperate exams has been very helpful in keeping eyes from roaming. I give the students sitting next to each other seperate exams. I must say it has had a positive impact which has caused my roamers to stop roaming and study.
Some other ways to prevent cheating that I use in my classroom:
1)Have two to three versions per exam
2)Change your exams all together every 3 to 4 terms
3)Change seat locations throughout the test...i.e. front of the room...back of the room...middle of the room...etc.
4)Check programmable calculators as information/notes can be stored on these calculators
I concur with this comment. Make sure the desks are far enough apart. By doing this you can
eliminate the temptation to cheat.
I also address the unethical quality of cheating and the fact that unethical behavior is incompatible with the practice of nursing; the student is also addressed by the DON.

I like to make several versions of one test making sure every other student gets a different, yet the same test. I always let 1-5 start off the same and mix the options up on the the following questions. Doing so I've caught people cheating and also have reduced the number of those that would usually be tempted to cheat.
Hi Calvin,
Yes, you are on point! This tactic works!
